Busoga Vs Bright Stars: School Boys Seek To Get Off The Mark

Busoga United’s head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko will be hoping for his first points this season when he host Bright Stars on matchday three of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Saturday at FUFA Njeru Technical centre.

Busoga have lost their two opening games in the ongoing 2019/20 season – They lost 2-1 to Tooro at Wankulukuku in the opener before falling to Mustafa Kizza’s freekick as KCCA FC won 1-0 on the road.

Bogere rued missed chances against KCCA which was their first home game.

After going down to Kizza’s 38th minute freekick, the former Kirinya Jinja SS team came close but Ivan Wani, Joel Madondo, Dan Ssewava and Jerome Kirya were all denied.

Busoga finished ninth last season with 41 points, same tally with Bright Stars in eighth.

Busoga XI that faced KCCA FC at Njeru

The hosts have gone five league matches without a win, a streak that includes three last 2018/19 season games.

Bright Stars have one point so far, they lost 3-1 against Vipers before drawing 1-1 against Express FC at Wankulukuku.

Bright Stars will welcome back Farouk Katongole after serving his suspension (red card) and he is expected to partner Enock Walusimbi in the heart of defence.

Last season, Busoga picked their first win against Bright Stars – Joel Madondo and Isma Kawawulo were on target for the School Boys in the 2-1 win while Jungu Methodius brought on back for the team coached by Fred Kajoba then who had June Seebaduka sent off.

The first round game had seen Bright Stars win 4-1 at Mwererwe – Nelson Senkatuka had a brace, Augustine Kacancu and Brian Kayanja scored the other goals. Fred Amaku brought one back for the visitors while Dan Ssewava was sent off.

This will be the seventh league meeting between the sides – Busoga have won once, drawn twice and lost the other three.
