Joel Madondo gave the hosts an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute.

Ibrahim Mugulusi doubled the advantage just after the hour mark with a beautiful freekick before a late strike from Dan Ssewava put the game to bed.

Isaac Isinde scored in his own net in added time for Bright Stars to leave Njeru with something to show.

“We managed to rectify mistakes we made against KCCA and that helped us to win today,” said Busoga United coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko.

“This (win) shows that we can win many matches if we continue to perform the same way we have done today.”

The win takes Busoga to three points from as many games – They had lost their two opening games against Tooro United and KCCA FC.

The calm before the storm

The win comes as a major boost for Busoga ahead of their regional derby with fellow Jinja outfits BUL FC.

This is the second loss for Mohammed Kisekka’s Bright Stars who lost 3-1 to Vipers in the opener. They drew 1-1 with Express FC at Wankulukuku. They will return to action against Wakiso Giants.
