UPL: Fans Call For Ssimwogerere’s Resignation As Express Fall To Onduparaka

Express fans showed their anger after their side lost to Onduparaka FC on matchday three of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Adinho Gibson and Caesar Okhuti were on target as Onduparaka compounded Express’ misery to pick a routine win at Wankulukuku.

In the closing stages of the game, Express fans started ‘Agenda Agende Agende’ chants – loosely translated as ‘he should resign’, to coach George Ssimwogerere.

The chants, are reminiscent of the ugly scenes that happened towards the end of last season mainly in the game against Paidha Black Angels.

This, has happened to previous Express FC coaches like Kefa Kisala, Wasswa Bbosa, Shafic Bisaso among others.

The fans accused Ssemwogerere of signing ‘unknowns’ and chase their darlings like Eric Kambale, as Express looked clueless in a 2-0 loss to the Caterpillars.

Onduparaka FC, seemingly weak without head coach Livingston Mbabazi who is in Kenya with Uganda Cranes, took a lead through Adinho with a 26th minute strike.

Adinho placed a low ball at the far left corner of goalkeeper Joshua Adea after Express defence failed to clear a loose ball in an initial build up that involved substitute Joel Jangeyambe and Caesar Okhuti.

Okhuti could have doubled the advantage but his long range shot was denied by Adea.

At restart, Ssimwogerere introduced Idrisa Kaye and Hamdan Nsubuga but the team failed to take command of the game.

Okhuti doubled the advantage close to the hour mark when he connected an header off Atendele Geriga’s lofty cross – Adea fumbled to keep the effort out but it found it’s way into the back of the net.

Express made attempts through Frank Ssenyondo whose header off Kaye was tipped out for a corner. Ssenyondo found Kalanda earlier in the first half but Onduparaka keeper Yusuf Wasswa came to the rescue.

Express will face Mbarara City FC on the road on Tuesday before hosting SC Villa. Onduparaka FC will return to action against Busoga United.
