Uganda Cranes coach Abdallah Mubiru has been impressed with the result and the players after a one all draw with neighbors Kenya in an International friendly played on Sunday.
The Cranes took a lead in the 22nd minute when the day’s captain Emmanuel Okwi collected from Kizito Luwagga, beat defender Joash Onyango, to slot home.
Uganda had more chances in the first stanza but failed to capitalise on a strong start before the hosts took control of the game in the second half before Kenneth Miguna leveled matters.
“I commend players for their efforts, we managed the game well and tried to share the ball, we had a fair of our chances though we didn’t use them accordingly and it was the same case for Kenya,” coach Mubiru noted.
“The boys gave it all and fought for the national jersey, it was an entertaining game which the fans enjoyed. A one all draw is a fair result because Kenya is a good strong team and they were playing at home.
“I had new boys in the team but they managed to play with confidence and it shows that we are on the right track.”
Uganda will return to action against Burundi on September 20 in CHAN qualifiers.
