Maroons beat hosts Tooro United 2-0 on matchday four of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league at Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Solomon Walusimbi scored in the seventh minute and Steven Mukwala who is on loan from.Vipers doubled the lead in the 67th minute as the visitors compounded Tooro’s misery on a rainy day.

This was Mukwala’s second goal for the Prison warders who will be targeting a better finish under new coach Douglas Bamweyana.

The rain delayed kickoff time for about an hour and the playing surface was soggy, a reminiscent of Tooro’s opener against Busoga United which they won 2-1.

“We didn’t warmup very well because of the rain and that’s why we conceded an early goal,” Tooro United assistant head coach Eric Ndifuna said after the loss to Maroons.

“We tried to put up a fight but we were pegged back again. We haven’t lost hope and we are confident and promise to do more in games to come.”

This is the third straight loss for Tooro United – They lost to Vipers and Wakiso Giants previously.

Maroons has now collected six points from three games. They beat Kyetume FC thanks to Mukwala’s goal on matchday two. They opened with a 3-0 loss to URA at Namboole.

Tooro return to action against URA at Namboole on Friday while Maroons host Bright Stars on Saturday.
