UPL: Wakiso Giants, Bright Stars Share Spoils

Bright Stars fought back to hold visitors Wakiso Giants on matchday four of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku.

Ronald Nkoge’s strike at the hour mark rescued a point for the hosts after the Purple Sharks had taken an early lead through Tom Masiko in the 4th minute.

Masiko scored from the spot, his second league goal for Wakiso, after Hassan Ssenyonjo was brought down in the box by Suleiman Ssebunza.

Nkonge struck past Derrick Emukule with his first touch after Joseph Janjali’s shot had ricochetted from the crossbar.

After going down, the hosts almost had an immediate response but Joseph Janjali shot direct to Derrick Emukule and Brian Kayanja’s shot went over the bar.

Wakiso’s forward Geoffrey Sserunkuma hasd two close headers – One kissed the post off a well weighed cross from youngster Ssenyonjo, while the other was cleared off the line by goalkeeper Simon Tamale.

Seven minutes into the second stanza, Bright Stars’ Methodius Jungu had an effort wide off the mark.

Wakiso are atop of the log with seven points. They lost to KCCA FC in the opener before beating URA FC and Tooro United. Bright Stars on the other hand, have two points from four games – They drew with Express and have lost to Busoga and Vipers.
