KCCA FC midfielder Gift Ali Abubakar is buoyant ahead of the team’s CAF Champions League encounter with Atletico Petroles de Luanda.
The sides will go head to head for the first leg on Saturday at Catetao Stadium in Luanda, Angola.
KCCA reached this stage after eliminating African Stars FC of Namibia 4-3 on aggregate in the preliminary round.
Last season, KCCA FC played in CAF Confederation cup but failed to reach the group stages after getting eliminated by Congo’s AS Otoho.
“We didn’t perform well last season we want and we now want to better that performance,” said Gift after Thursday’s training. “We are looking forward for positive results here on Saturday.”
“We are ready for Saturday game, its a big one and it means a lot to us. Personally am geared up because the target as a player and a club is to go a long distance.
“We have discussed few things with coaches and they have told us the strength and weaknesses of our opponents but as a midfielder I would love not to have any problem in my area of operation and we really need to be at the top of our game.”
The second leg will be played between September 27th and 29 to determine which club will qualify to the group stages.
