Following the women Football symposium recently held at Kabira County club, the federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) launched a new league format in which only eight clubs will participate in the upcoming 2019/20 season.
The criteria followed is that the top four teams from the two groups last season – Victoria group and Elizabeth group – form the new league.
Dubbed the Fufa Women Super Leaguy – FWSL, it will be played on three legged basis with the team winning on aggregate hosting the third fixture.
The chosen eight will be Kawempe Muslim, Lady Doves, She Corporates and Muteesa Royal University from the Victoria Group and Kampala Queens, UCU Lady Cardinals, Olila High School And Uganda Martyrs High school Rubaga from the Elizabeth Group.
The FUFA Women Elite league will stay as the second tier league and will provide two teams that will be promoted to the super league at every end of season.
It should be noted that Kawempe Muslim and UCU lady Cardinals are the only teams to win the former FUFA women Elite league with four championships and one respectively.
The league is expected to kick off on second November 2019 and the winner after the twenty one games will be announced winner of the Inaugural FUFA Women Super league
