*Vipers Vs Mbarara City FC – 3PM
(St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende)
Vipers play host to Mbarara City on matchday five of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
However, this will be the Venoms’ third league game after missing out on matchday three and four because they had players on national team duty.
Vipers have had a perfect start with victories against Bright Stars and Tooro United – They needed a late Fahad Bayo goal, playing with a man down, to dispatch Wasswa Bbosa’s side at Kitende.
Vipers will welcome back head coach Edward Golola who returns from sickness. The gaffer missed the Tooro game.
Probable Lineup For Vipers
Fabien Mutombora is expected to start in goal ahead of Derrick Ochan. He has impressed in the league so far and was instrumental as Vipers beat Mbarara in penalty shootouts to reach the Pilsner Super eight finals.
Paul Willa will reprise his role at right back while roving Aziz Kayondo will occupy the left flank in place of Farouk Musisi who starts his suspension after that red card (second yellow card) against Tooro.
Rashid Toha is expected to make his debut since his shock move from Onduparaka FC. The towering defender is expected to displace Bashir Asiku to partner with Captain Halid Lwaliwa in the heart of defence.
Karim Watambala and Frank Zaga Tumwesigye have been ruled out.
Siraje Ssentamu will beat Ibrahim Tembo in holding role – The former URA player started on the bench against Tooro.
Innocent Wafula has been down because of fever and is hence set to miss out.
Allan Kayiwa and Brian Nkuubi will be deployed at either flanks.
The creative Abraham Ndugwa will play just behind the two strikers in Fahad Bayo and Dan Sserunkuma.
New signing Shaban Mohammed is still recovering from an injury and his wait for the club debut continues.
Probable Team In Brief – Mutombora, Willa, Aziz, Toha, Halid, Ssentamu, Nkuubi, Ndugwa, Sserunkuma, Bayo, Kayiwa.
The Wounded Ankole Lions
Mbarara City preyed on Proline FC, recording a 3-0 victory, on matchday one. The club has collected just a point from three games since. They drew goalless against Police, lost to SC Villa and Express FC.
Pressure has started to mount for the young coach Brian Ssenyondo and will hope for a positive result against the league front runners for the title.
Mbarara has never beaten Vipers! They drew both games last season but lost both encounters in the 2017/18 season.
Paul Mucurezi cancelled out Dan Sserunkuma’s opener last season at Kitende in the league. In the concluded Super 8 semis, Brian Aheebwa scored for Mbarara before Tito Okello came off the bench to send the game into shootouts where Mutombora made a name.

Mbarara City 0-0 Vipers
Vipers 1-1 Mbarara City
Vipers 2-0 Mbarara City
