KCCA FC claimed a goalless draw against Angola’s Atlético Petróleos de Luanda in the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifiers at Estadio 11 de Novembro, Luanda.

Mike Mutebi’s charges had a goal disallowed at the start of the second half with Allan Okello scoring from Mustafa Kizza’s cross but Ethiopian referee Belay Tadesse signalled for an offside.

Kizza had a freekick kept out, Sadat Anaku drove an effort wide before Charles Lukwago produced two late saves to see both sides settle for a draw.

“This result means a lot,” noted KCCA FC attacking midfielder Mike Mutyaba. It was a very hard game for us today but we managed to defend well. We have to go back and its not over yet. We have to go back and see how we will knock them out “

KCCA FC who ousted Namibia’s African Stars, will be targeting for any win against the Angolan opponents to reach the lucrative group stages for the second time in the club’s history.

The sides will meet for the return leg on September 27 at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
