KCCA FC To Receive CECAFA Prize Money Soon – Musonye Explains

KCCA FC will receive their CECAFA Kagame Cup championship prize money next week according to General secretary Nicholas Musonye.

The Lugogo based side beat Azam FC 1-0 in the final to clinch the regional crown on July 21 at Kigali Stadium in Rwanda.

All the three top clubs – KCCA FC, Azam and Green Eagles – haven’t received their cash prize which has not been the case in past editions.

“We are aware of the situation and working on processing the money. We know what to do during the right time when the money comes,” Musonye told the-SportsNation.com on Saturday at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

“This money is going to come from the government of Rwanda and it will be wired to the respective clubs next week. Tell them (KCCA) that they will be receiving it soon.”

Mike Mutebi’s charges will receive a cash prize of $30,000 while beaten finalists Azam take $20,000. Zambia’s Green Eagles who beat AS Maniema 2-0 in the placement game will bank $10,000.

It should be remembered that KCCA beat Green Eagles 4-3 in extra time after a two all draw in normal time. Mustafa Kizza’s goal gave them a laboured win in the finals.
