FIFA Rankings: Uganda Static, Top World And Africa Revealed

Uganda Cranes retained their 80th position in the FIFA Rankings released on September 19. They are placed 16th in Africa and highest in the CECAFA region.

From the previous ranks which were released on July 25, Uganda has played three games – They beat Somalia home and away in CHAN before a one all draw with Kenya in an international friendly.

Uganda’s highest rank was 62nd in January 2016 while they achieved their lowest (121) in July 2002.

Uganda’s CHAN opponents on Saturday Burundi rose four places to 144.

Neighbours Kenya have also remained in 107th position.

Uganda’s opponents in Africa Cup of Nations Burkina Faso are 61st while South Sudan (173) Malawi (124) are still below the Cranes.

In Africa, leaders Senegal are placed 20th in the world, Tunisia (29th) are second, while Nigeria (34) are third. Reigning African champions Algeria are fourth (38th) and Morocco fifth (39th).

The teams in the top ten remain unchanged, but France (2nd, up 1) and Brazil (3rd, down 1) exchanged places while Spain (7th, up 2) are the top ten’s biggest movers.
