*Uganda 1-1 Eritrea
*Burundi 3-3 South Sudan
Uganda Hippos coach Morley Byekwaso has blamed the draw with Eritrea to missed chances.
The Hippos were denied maximum points, drawing one all, as the CECAFA U20 championship got underway on Saturday.
Ivan Bogere, a youngster at Proline FC, scored for Uganda in the 37th minute but Yosief Tesfai levelled matters in the 57th minute at Pece War memorial stadium in Gulu.
“We had many clear cut chances and we could have won this game,” said Byekwaso after the draw. “I think the boys are still shy. We shall talk to them more, we shall give them more tips and see how they will try scoring.”
“We played good football and am happy with the performance but not the result. We have to switch focus to our next game which is a must win against Djibouti.”
Substitute Isma Mugulusi hit the post.
Uganda will return to action against Djibout who lost to Sudan in the first match.
