Taekwond: Korea Ambassador’s Cup Best Performers Awarded

The seventh edition of the Taekwond Ambassadors cup climaxed on Sunday at the MTN indoor Arena at Lugogo.

The two day championship saw 15 clubs take part – Lee Taekwondo club, lganga, Tororo Taekwondo club, Oceanic, Pan African, Kole, Makerere, Oyam, CSCA, Tigerwoods, Akalo, Light Acedemy and Aghakhan.

Children Sports Charity Academy (CSCA) clinched the overall title despite coming third in the senior category while Ali Lubega (Lee Taekwond) and John Robert Okwere (Tooro) were the best performers in the senior category.

“The fighters put up a good performance,” said Ahimbisibwe Hakim Kato, President of Uganda Taekwond Federation. “It has been a successful edition and I commend the sponsors (Korea and NCS), fans, all the clubs and other stakeholders that made this a success.”

“The quality displayed showed that the teams have been training hard despite the fact that our last event was way back in June. We hope to return for the next competition (Uganda Open) in Lira next month where we expect a huge turn up.”

The winners on the day – in various categories (Juniors, Seniors – Fin, Fly Weight, welter etc) were given medals and other prizes.

Overall
1 – CSCA with 11 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze

2 – Lee taekwondo with 7 gold, 8 silver and 14 bronze

3 – Lango with 4 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze

4 – Aghakan with 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze

5 – Tigerwoods with 1 gold 3 silver and 1 bronze.

Best players

Seniors – Ali lubega (Lee Taekwondo club), Okwere John Robert (Tororo)

Juniors – Seanice Namukwaya (Aghakan), Hahumi Emmanuel (Lee taekwondo)

Best referees – Ahmed Bamuwayira and Ekanya Patrick.
