Uganda’s Defender Seeking Funds For Surgery

Embattled defender Shafic Batambuze is soliciting about Ksh400,000 to undergo surgery.

Batambuze injured his knee in a CAF Champions League qualifier against Burundi’s Aigle Noir last month.

“The Surgery is expensive for me,” said Batambuze as quoted by Goal. “I have tried to follow up with my club but we have no sponsor yet at the moment, things are a bit tough.”

Gor is supposed to fund the surgery but Chief executive officer Lordvick Aduda has stated that the club is facing financial constraints.

“It is our responsibility to treat Batambuze but it is also in the open that the club is facing financial challenges and we cannot deny or run away from such a responsibility,” Aduda commented.

Bhuchu, as Batambuze is commonly know, joined Gor last year from Singida United. He also played for Tusker FC, Western Stima, Sofapaka, SC Villa, Muhoroni Youth and Simba.
