Uganda’s sportsmen and retirement cannot be mentioned in the same line. He/she will announce retirement today but returns to action after a split second.
However, most are just forced into hang their boots because of injuries and other unforeseen circumstances.
The latest set to retire is Oilers and Uganda’s golden boy Jimmy Abraham Enabu.
Enabu missed City Oilers’ game one against Ndejje University Angels and that might have been the start for the end of his glorious basketball career.
The Oilers captain has joined aviation where he has enrolled for a course and the new development will see his time on court limited.
“About playing, I have talked to coach (Mandy Juruni) about my schedule. When I am able to be with my team, I will,” Enabu told the-SportsNation.com exclusively. “Yeah, I am joining aviation.”
Enabu started playing Basketball at Kabojja SS before joining Knight Riders basketball team in Entebbe in 2007.
He studied at UCU and played for Dmark Power (now Betway Power) where he won his first championship in 2011. He later joined Oilers in 2013 and has won six league rings with the defending champions.
The guard who represented Uganda’s national basketball team at the 2017 AfroBasket in Tunisia and Senegal, is regarded as one of the country’s best ever.
