*Tooro United 1-0 KCCA FC
Tooro United, with a man down, beat defending champions KCCA FC on matchday six of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL season.
Charles Musiige’s 74th minute goal was all that separated the sides as Tooro United made a big statement on return to Fort Portal.
Mike Kawooya was sent off for an intentional handball for the hosts before KCCA’s Allan Okello and Mike Mutyaba missed two penalties in an eventful first half at St Paul Seminary ground.
This, is the first league loss for KCCA from three games – Mike Mutebi’s charges had beaten Wakiso Giants and Busoga United.
The victory is the third for Tooro United who have now accumulated nine points from six games. They beat Busoga United in the opener before coming from down to stop URA FC.
Bitter Taste For KCCA
Visitors KCCA FC showed the anxiety for the win and would have gone ahead as early as the eighth minute but debutant John Odumegwu shot an inch off the post.
Tooro Captain Kawooya was given marching orders in the 31st minute for handball – Kawooya kept out odumegwu’s volley off the line.
Mutyaba took the responsibility for the resultant penalty but goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige flapped away his effort to keep the score level.
Three minutes later, Mutyaba was brought down by Samuel Luswata in the box but still Meddie Kibirige denied Okello from the spot.
The all important moment on a cold evening came in the 74th minute when Musiige beat John Revita before slotting the ball past Lukwago.
Tooro united host Kyetume on the 5th of October while KCCA FC will host winless Bright Stars.
