UPL: Ojok’s Late Strike Denies URA, Under pressure Ssimbwa

URA’s winless streak continued with a one all draw against BUL FC on matchday seven of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Deogracious Ojok’s late strike canceled Kagimu Shafik’s first half 10th minute goal to deny URA.

The result piles more pressure on coach Sam Ssimbwa whose side remain winless in the last five games since they beat Maroons 3-0 in the opener at Namboole.

In 10th minute, Cromwel Rwothomio floated in a fine header pass from Saidi Kyeyune’s delivery which beat BUL defender to meet unmarked Kagimu Shafik who did no mistake to make his side’s first shot on target count.

In 24th minute, visitor came so close to an equalizer but Alitho James pulled out a world class save to deny Richard Wandyaka from a close range before Ojok who had a goal keeper to beat fired far over the bar.

Just before halftime, Kagimu had a chance to double the lead but his shot was parried out by Eric Kibowa.

Both coaches made early substitutions in second half with Hamis Tibita paving way for Musa Esenu for BUL while debutant Kalega Hassan came on for Ojera Joakiam.

BUL looked a bit more lively in the closing stages – Richard wandyaka and Ojok missed some few chances as URA lived on borrowed time.

In 89th minute, Ojok curled in a beautiful freekick at far post from the edge of the box after being fouled by Kagimu.

The result leaves embattled Tax collectors with six points from seven games while BUL remain 2nd with 13 points from six.

URA will make a long trip to the north to play Onduparaka in their next match as BUL will host struggling defending Champions KCCA FC on Tuesday.
