UPL: Onduparaka Edge Maroons To Retain Summit

Onduparaka beat Maroons on matchday seven of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL to extend their dream start.

The Caterpillars won 1-0 in a close game played at Luzira Prisons ground, Luzira.

Captain Gaddafi Wahab converted from the spot just after the hour mark following a challenge on forward Caesar Okhuti in the box.

Maroons coach Douglas Bamweyana will rue missed chances for his side in the first stanza, with Rashid Agau at the giving end.

Agau was denied by Wasswa after beating Mohamed and Atendele. He was also denied by the woodwork before having another effort go an inch wide after the visitors had lost possession at the edge of the box.

The visitors who got a walkover against Police in their league opener, lost 1-0 to Proline on matchday two, have won four games in a row since. They came into the game after beating up on Express, Busoga and Wakiso.

They remain on the summit with 15 points, they have scored eight goals and conceded only once – a freekick from Edirisa Lubega Torres in loss against Proline at Lugogo.

Livingston Mbabazi’s charges will return to action with a league game against URA FC at Greenlight Stadium on Tuesday, their second at Greenlight Stadium.

The sixth placed Prison Warders lost their third game to remain with nine points from seven games, will visit Mbarara City on Wednesday in what will be the first league game at Kakyeka this season.
