Vipers’ striker and Maroons tactician Douglas Bamweyana have been named the best player and coach respectively, of the StarTimes UPL for the month of September.
The duo takes home an accolade and Sh1M each, courtesy of Pilsner.
Bayo who joined Vipers from Zambia’s Buildcon FC has been an integral part for the Venoms scoring three goals in September in the league.
He scored one against Tooro United FC and a brace against Mbarara City FC
“Am very happy to be here, its a big achievement,” stated Bayo in a short award ceremony at Kati Kati on Monday. “I won’t stop to be here (winning) because am motivated to.”
He beat Maroons’ Steven Mukwala and SC Villa’s David Owori for the accolade.
Bamweyana saw Maroons win all the three games in September – beating Kyetume (1-0), Tooro United (2-0) and Bright Stars (3-2).
“This is a big honour but it’s not a personal award for me. Its for my entire technical team, the management and players,” the soft spoken Bamweyana said.
Bamweyana beat Villa’s Edward Kaziba to the gong. In September, Villa won three games including a walkover against Proline. The record winners also drew with Police FC.
