Two Uganda 3X3 basketball teams – Men and Women – have set off to represent the country at the 2019 World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.
The team will take part in the inaugural World Beach Games 3×3 women’s basketball competition at Katara Beach from Oct. 13-16.
The inaugural World Beach Games, which feature beach, water and action sports, are a six-day competition that will include 13 sports and 14 disciplines, with more than 1,200 athletes from 97 nations expected to participate.
Uganda’s 3X3 basketball team has: Men – Fayed Baale (UCU Canons), Henry (KIU Titans) and Jonathan Egau (City Oilers) while the Women team has Rita Imanishimwe (JKL Lady Dolphins), Sarah Ageno (UCU Lady Canons), Melissa Akullu (Angels) and Priscilla Abey (UCU Lady Canons).
The women’s team is unchanged from the one that presented at U23 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in China.
The Games will showcase Olympic sports with a twist as handball, tennis, wrestling, and football all take to the sand of Katara Beach.
Skateboarding, kata karate and bouldering will also feature ahead of their debuts at Tokyo 2020.
