UPL: Kyetume Extends Bright Stars Misery

Visiting Kyetume FC beat hosts Bright Stars 1-0 on match-day nine of Ugandan Premier League at Betway Muteesa II Stadium to earn its third win of the season.

Bright Stars misery continues as the club remain winless – the side remain only club yet to win a single game this season.

Sharif Ssaka scored the only goal of the game to move the Mukono side to ninth position on the log with 10 points.

Benon Tohomera could have given the visitors an early lead but failed to score from a free header before Saaka put an open chance far wide.

Hosts looked very rusty having created only two chances; Brian Kayanja’s first half shot went far wide and Methodius Jungu’s effort was kept by Joel Mutakubya in the 48th minute.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, coach Raymond Muhammed Kiseka introduced Joseph Janjali for Ronald Sempa before double substitution of Brian Kayaja and Hamis Gabite who paved way for Moses Okot and James Angu in the 68th minutes but nothing changed for the hosts.

In the 63rd, minute, Saaka scored at far post from Isejja Deo’s flipped through ball to put the vistors in the lead.

Patrick Ochan’s and Isejja went close to doubling Kyetume’s lead but had their shots off the target.

Brights Stars face leaders BUL on October 29th while Kyetume host Vipers at Namboole.
