Promoted Katwe United beat Light SS 1-0 as the 2019/20 FUFA Big League kicked off on Thursday.

Abdul Ssemwogerere scored from a long range strike in the 73rd minute for the ‘Tulibanyiivu’ side at Lugogo.

The side, coached by Hassan Mubiru will face Saviour on the road on match-day two, this Sunday at Katusabe Dove grounds.

Elsewhere, Asaba Richardson scored a brace – a goal at either half – as Ndejje University FC edged Alex Isabirye’s Nyamityobora 2-1 in a clash of former UPL sides at Arena of visions.

Captain Denis Ssekitoleko’s goal was enough as Steven Bogere’s UPDF FC picked a 1-0 away win against Dove FC in Masindi.

Musa Naluwere was on target as MYDA beat Kiboga Young 1-0 away at CRO Sansiro in Mbale.

Kakuru Hassan and Rashid Matovu netted for Kigezi Homeboyz, formerly Kabale Sharp, to seal a 2-1 away against Water FC at Luzira Prisons.

Paidha Black Angels’ game against Kataka FC was abandoned because of heavy downpour, in the 39th minute, and play will continue on Friday morning.
