Africa Netball Championship: She Cranes Lose Grip On Title

Uganda’s chances of defending the Africa Netball Championship ended with another defeat against Malawi on Monday.

The two time back to back defending champions lost 45-49 to Malawi, a day after a 47-50 loss to South Africa at Belleville Velodrome, Cape Town.

Rashid Mubiru made one change from the team that lost to South Africa, with Joan Nampunu starting ahead of Irene Mirembe in the Goal defense position, but the Malawians proved a hard nut to crack.

The result confirms Malawi’s superiority against Uganda as the side had beaten the She Cranes 55-44 at the concluded Netball World cup in Liverpool, England.

The She Cranes have two wins – Zambia and Lesotho – and will face Kenya on Tuesday in their last match.
