Newly appointed Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan Mckinstry has applauded the efforts from Uganda Cranes Players, staff and supporters as the side booked a ticket at the CHAN 2020 after a convincing win against Burundi.
The coach also called for good preparations before the tourney in Cameroon.
Uganda beat Burundi 3-0 at Lugogo to outwit the side 6-0 on aggregate, to seal a fifth straight qualification after previous appearances in 2011 (Sudan), 2014 (South Africa), 2016 (Rwanda) and 2018 (Morocco).
Earlier in August 2019, Uganda had eliminated Somalia at the first qualification stage with 7-2 defeat on aggregate .
“Excellent efforts from all the Uganda Cranes players, staff and supporters to secure qualification to CHAN 2020,” tweeted the Northern Irishman.
“We must now ensure good preparation over the coming months to provide us with the platform to succeed in Cameroon.”
Mckinstry was appointed on September 30th 2019, replacing Sebastien Desabre who joined Pyramids in Egypt.
The team has been under Police FC coach Abdallah Mubiru.
Uganda has join the other fifteen nations which will play in 2020 CHAN; Tanzania, Rwanda, Cameroon (hosts) DR.Congo,Congo, Marocco, Tunisia, Guinea, Togo, Niger, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mali and BurkinaFaso.
