Vipers will be banking on their main target man Fahad Bayo when they take on leaders BUL FC in what promises to be a pulsating affair.

Bayo has been the club’s fulcrum since joining the Venoms at the start of the season. He has scored six goals in the league, a tally none has surpassed.

The explosive forward is firing on all cylinders and extended his fine form on the national team on Saturday where his goal set the tone as Uganda Cranes dispatched Burundi 3-0 at Lugogo.

Dan Mzee Sserunkuma and Allan Kayiwa who were recently nominated for FUFA awards best player of 2018, are expected to partner Bayo upfront as the Venoms seek to keep their unbeaten run intact – The latter returns to the fold after missing their 3-0 win against Express.

Karim Watambala will need a late fitness test, Siraje Ssentamu returns after missing two games while Geoffrey Wasswa, Ashraf Mugume and Henry Kitegenyi are all ready for selection.

Frank Zaga Tumwesigye will be pushing for a starting berth – He was on target as Vipers beat Lugazi Municipal FC 1-0 on Saturday in a practice match at Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

The venoms have won three on the trot and will leapfrog BUL at the top with a win.

“It’s going to be a big determinant for either side, a turning point for each of us,” said BUL coach Peter Onen.

“Every player is available, only Esenu (Musa) is doubtful and shall be assessed to see if he is ready to play.”

Vipers beat BUL home and away last season, the Jinja-based team’s last victory against Vipers came in 2016, a 1-0 win on the road.

Robert Mukongotya (4) and Deogracious Ojok (3) who have scored seven goals, and Richard Wandyaka will be key for Onen’s side who has lost once this season.
