Masaza Cup: Museveni Buys Tickets, Fans Warned

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has purchased 2000 tickets to give to the fans ahead of the Masaza Cup final in Saturday.

Balaam Byarugaba who is the event organiser under the brand Twisted Events, a subsidiary of Balaam Marketing agency, confirmed the development in a briefing held on Friday morning at Namboole.

Balam told journalists that General Salim Saleh has also purchased 2000 tickets in a bid to see that fans will have a chance to watch the game at Namboole. The tickets have already been given to the respective representatives of the counties.

Busiro, Bulemeezi and Buddu fans are the beneficiaries of the tickets while Kyadondo have been left out as it is believed that they have the ability to fund themselves.

The Namboole gates will be opened at 8AM before entertainment from artistes including Mathias Walukagga and David Lutalo start at 11AM.

The losers’ match between Kyadondo and Buddu will get underway at 11AM, Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi will enter Namboole at 2:30PM before the final between Busiro and Bulemeezi kickoff at 3PM.

Sh12M awaits the overall champion while the beaten finalist will settle for Sh9M. The third and fourth team will walk away with Sh7M and Sh5M courtesy of the sponsors that include Airtel and Centenary Bank.

Fans Warned

Security bodies – Traffic and Police Force – have warned fans to maintain discipline and follow issued guidelines for the much anticipated day.

“We have put together good security measures to make sure that people come and leave peaceful,” noted Kampala Metropolitan Area Police Operations commander Muzafaru Zirabamuzaale.

“I call up on for maximum cooperation from everyone involved and let’s respect others. The security will be tight, those who are coming with bad intentions like stealing please stay home.

“Leave bags at home to maximise convenience and make sure that respect the given orders for your own good.”

Kawuma Nsereko, the deputy Commander Traffic Kampala Metropolitan, said that the parking space in and outside the Namboole gates will only be available for the VIPs with stickers only.

Kawuma added: “Our job is always easy if the drivers and other road users work in line with the rules. As you come to celebrate, please do it responsibly. Don’t drink and drive and be tempted to overload. Follow the usual guidelines as well stipulated. We have put traffic officers at every important point we deem necessary for guidance.”

The Tickets:

The tickets are priced at Sh10000, VIP and VVIP will go for Sh20,000 and 100,000 respectively for an event that has been organized by Twisted events.

*Airtel centres: Kampala Round, Kikuubo, Kisekka Market, Lugogo, Luwero, Bulenga, and Kajjansi

*TOTAL petrolstations: Natete, Masaka, Nyendo, Entebbe, Kasana, Kyengera, Namasuba, Luwero , Kasangati, Bweyogerere, and Mukono.

*Centenary Bank branches: Masaka, Mukono, Luwero, Mapeera.

*Hardware World, Namboole, Bulange, Wakiso Giants Shop.
