CAF Confederation: Proline FC Nears Group Stages

2018/19 Uganda Cup winners Proline FC came twice from behind to hold Libyan giants Al-Nasr Benghazi in the first leg of the playoff round of the CAF confederation cup.

The tie was played in Alexandria, Egypt because of security reasons in Libya.

Mustafa Mujuzi and Bright Anukani scored for the Ugandan representatives in a 2-2 draw and Matia Lule’s side will seek for at least a goalless draw to reach the groups, when the sides meet for the return leg in Kampala on November 3.

The hosts scored their first goal of the game in the 13th minute through forward Moataz Al Mahdi.

At the stroke of the first stanza Mustafa Mujuzi bundled in a free-kick to level matters before halftime.

Al-Nasr scored regained their lead, converting from a penalty spot after Richard Ajuna handled the ball in box for Khalid Madji to make it 2-1 in the 68th minute.

With 12 minutes left on the clock, youngster Anukani scored the equaliser, slotting in from Diego Kizza’s cross.
