Express Vs Busoga: Red Eagles Seek To Bounce Back

Tuesday, October 29
*Express FC Vs Busoga United – 4:30PM

Express FC will be seeking to return to winning ways when the StarTimes UPL return on Tuesday.

The Red Eagles lost 2-0 to Vipers in their last league engagement and will be banking on home support to stop Busoga at Wankulukuku.

George Ssimwogerere’s side occupy 11th on the 16-team log and a win will put them level on points with Busoga who are sixth with 13 points.

“We have worked on our mistakes during the break. We hope to have few players who have been out back,” noted Ssimwogerere according to the official club website.

Joseph Zziwa and Shafic Avemah who had not acquired licences are expected to be on match-day squad.

Centre back Cyrus Kibande is still having ‘some problems’ and expected to miss out, goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga, Hamdan Nsubuga and Emmanuel Baffoe are also out.

Shafic Kakeeto Facing Former Side

Busoga United will bank on defender Shafic Kakeeto to get a positive away result.

Nana as Kaketo is commonly known in the football circles, played for Express FC before joining Busoga before the start of this season. He paired with Isaac Mutanga at the heart of defence last season.

“Am ready for tomorrow’s game,” said Kakeeto. “I have been out because of injuries but the doctors have passed me fit. I know Express in and out but one thing I can say is that they are very physical and fit but we are ready to better them in all aspects. Our main target is to win our next games.”

Busoga United have won their last two games – beating Proline FC and Police FC and drew one all against SC Villa earlier.

The side will be without Isma Kawawulo and Umar Mukobe who were sent off against Police FC while David Bagoole whose URA move was blocked, is set for his first appearance this season.

The Meetings:

This will be the seventh league meeting between the two sides in top flight. Express FC has won twice, drawn and lost as many.

Last season, Express’ Brian Umony and Arthur Kiggundu were on target to hand the Red Eagles maximum points as Jerome Kirya’s goal proved not enough at Wankulukuku.

Joel Madondo scored the lone goal as Busoga, Kirinya Jinja SS then, won 1-0 in the first round in December 2018.

2017/18
