Onduparaka Vs Tooro: Caterpillars Braced For 100th Appearance

Wednesday, October 30
*Onduparaka Vs Tooro United

Onduparaka FC are set to play their 100th league game when they host Tooro United on Wednesday at Greenlight Stadium in Arua.

This is the club’s 4th season in topflight. They have played 99 games including a walkover against Police FC in their 2019/20 season opener which was supposed to be played at Luzira Prisons.

Coincidentally, their 100th cap comes against Tooro United, a team they played their first league encounter at the same stadium.

The match against Tooro United, known as Soana then, ended goalless on August 19, 2016.

The club has made Greenlight a fortress and has pulled probably the largest crowd since joining the top tier.

Rashid Toha, Mohammed Shaban and Gadafi Wahab have been some of the stars produced by the club, the latter is the current club captain while the other two have since joined Vipers.

After the goalless draw against Tooro, they lost 2-0 away to Bright Stars and held Express to a 1-1 draw with Toha scoring the first goal in the club’s league history when he headed in Wahab’s freekick at the hour mark to cancel out John Ssemazi’s opener at Wankulukuku.

Thereafter, they recorded their first win against KCCA in Arua in a 2-1 victory to cement their presence, and since then they have never looked back.

A league title has not been achieved, but it will be asking at the moment. However, they have never finished outside the top six and have been the strongest of the league’s chasing pack together with URA.
