UPL: Bright Stars Edge Onduparaka For Maiden Win

Bright Stars beat Onduparaka FC to record their first 2019/20 StarTimes UPL win of the season.

Mohamed Kisekka’s side won 1-0 in a game played Bright Stars hosted at a neutral venue – FUFA Technical centre, Njeru.

Substitute Mohamed Kyeyune came off the bench, replacing Samuel Ssekito, to score from a counter attack in the 70th minute of the game.

Yusuf Wasswa denied the hosts when he parried away Alfred Onek’s freekick while Ssekitto had his effort wide as Bright Stars made their intents known.

Goalkeeper Godwin Buule made a double save to keep out Gadafi Wahab and Caesar Okhuti’s shots to keep the Caterpillars at bay.

Buule also kept out Vitalis Tabu’s freekick in the 88th minute.

The win takes Bright Stars to nine points, level with Mbarara City who face Tooro United on Sunday. This was the fourth loss for the Arua-based outfits who are third with 19 points.

Bright Stars visit Mbarara before hosting SC Villa while Onduparaka will host BUL before another home against Kyetume FC.
