Big League: Mbale Heroes Pile More Misery On Katwe United

Yahaya Luuti’s late strike daggered through Katwe United’s hearts as Mbale Heroes won 1-0 in a FUFA Big League encounter at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

The loss, fourth for the club, extends the club’s misery since joining the second tier of the country’s football league system.

This was the third straight loss for Katwe United under new coach Allan Kabonge who replaced sacked Hassan Mubiru.

Katwe remains rooted on the Elgon cup group with just four points from four games while Mbale Heroes are second with 11 points.

At 0-0, Katwe United looked the better side but failed to bury their chances – Alex Katumba came close to finding an opener before he was denied by Julius Kizito.

Allan Tebusweke’s effort rattled the side net after beating defender Ayatu Ssempijja while the towering Vincent Kimeze had an header saved by goalkeeper Julius kizito.

Patrick Sserunjogi fired over the bar from point blank range off Okori Luka’s delivery while Billy Nkata had an effort also cleared by Pascal Irasa with a goalkeeper already beaten.

Luuti’s goal for the visitors came in stoppage when he beat Wasswa Ssemogerere before pouncing home.

Katwe United who missed first choice goalkeeper Eric Dhaira who banned afted punching refree in their game away to MYDA, will host Paidha Black Angles in theor next game before visiting Kataka FC.
