FIBA 3X3 Africa: Strong Start For Uganda

Hosts Uganda had a dream start at the ongoing 2019 FIBA 3X3 Africa Cup played at hockey grounds, Lugogo.

The tourney, sponsored by Tusker Lite, is in its third edition after the first two were held in Lome, Togo. Uganda signed a three year deal with FIBA to host the tourney from 2019-2021.

Uganda’s Silverbacks (men) and Gazelles (women) won their respective games but the U18 boys team lost to Nigeria.

The Silverbacks – Syrus Kiviiri, Mark Opiyo, James Okello and Ivan Lumanyika – are through to the quarter final after beating Mauritius 21-5 and Nigeria 15-14 (overtime).
