Uganda Premier League defending champions KCCA thrashed Express 3-1 in an encounter played at Wakissha.

Frank Kalanda scored a consolation from the spot for George Ssimwogerere’s charges in the 75th minute.

The victory sends KCCA to fifth with 19 points from nine games while Express FC slip to 11th with 14 points.

KCCA face Vipers while Express visit Tooro United.

Youngster Anaku gave the visitors a perfect start in the 13th minute when he shot from a 25 yards off a well delivered Gift Ali pass.

Forward Erisa Ssekisambu’s cross was kept out by Express goalkeeper Tonny Kyamera to deny an eagerly awaiting Muzamiru Mutyaba.

Mutyaba doubled the lead later on when he tapped in Ssekisambu’s cross in the 18th minute.

Kalanda could have halved the deficit but goalkeeper Jamil Malyamungu was equal to the effort.

Visitors came searching for the third but Ssekisambu’s powerful shot hit the crossbar.

Gift Ali had his effort collected by goalkeeper Kyamera before Yiga put the ball in the back of his own net to make it 3-0 in favour of the visitors.

Express FC pulled one back thanks to Kalanda who converted from the sport after Filbert Obenchan fouled Frank Ssenyondo in the box.

Muzamiru could have scored the 4th for KCCA in the last minute of the game but his shot went inches off the goal post.
