Betway Power squeezed past UCU Canons to take game one of the best five (race to three) semifinal of the 2019 NBL Playoffs played at MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo.

Power, five time defending champions, who finished fifth in the regular season led 29-26 at halftime and managed to hold off UCU’s late surge in a pulsating affair.

Syrus Kiviiri scored a team high 12 points while Geoffrey Soro recovered from a slow start to collect 11 points as Joseph Ikong.

The aggressive Philip Ameny grabbed 10 rebounds and haunted the Canons from onset in an ill-fated affair.

The Canons who are the 2019 number one seeding, still chasing their first league crown, were let down by their shooting on the day.

Nicholas Natuhereza’s troops who terrorised defences in the regular season were 5-of-32 from three point range against Power on Wednesday night.

David Kongor Deng garnered a game high 18 points. Christened as ‘the flying Dikong’, the long and tall forward lived as advertised as cleared the boards eight times including an outstanding block against Geoffrey Soro.
