*Uganda Vs Malawi – 4PM
Uganda Cranes captain and goalkeeper Denis Onyango has related his team’s hunger for success to that of Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo.
The Cranes have qualified to AFCON finals in the last two editions but the Sundowns shot stopper has revealed that the players still want it more and are ready to drive the country back to the continental stage.
Messi and Ronaldo have five ballon d’or gongs each and are the football’s epitome and benchmark of success.
Onyango who has faced Messi once during a club friendly with Sundowns has said that the duo have been on top but never deteriorated despite winning almost everything available.
“We are more hungry to than ever before,” Onyango told journalists on Saturday. “We need to succeed in this campaign. Our hunger is like that of Ronaldo and Messi – They are still playing at the highest level. We have been there (AFCON) before and it’s what drives us every day, we wouldn’t have given out that good performance (against Burkina Faso) of course if our mission was not to qualify.”
After picking a priceless point against Burkina, Onyango noted that the team’s focus has already been switched to Malawi flames games before stressing that his side has enough fire power to triumph on Sunday.
In the previous campaign, Onyango kept five clean sheets out of the six games Uganda played to reach 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
