HT: Uganda 1-0 Malawi

Emmanuel Okwi’s goal has given Uganda Cranes a slender lead at the break against Malawi flames in the AFCON qualifiers at Namboole.

The Ittihad attacker controlled inside the box after he was put through by Joseph Ochaya’s long ball before firing past Brighton Munthali at the half hour mark.

The Cranes should be like three up but target man Fahad Bayo, on his debut, has arrived late on various occasions to miss tap-ins.

William Luwagga Kizito also directed his bicycle kick over the bar from Nicholas Wadada’s neat pass.

The visitors have rarely threatened with their best chance on goal seeing Gerald Phiri saved by Denis Onyango.

Chimwemwe Idana paved way for Chimango Kayira in the only change made by the visitors.
