*Uganda 1-0 Ethiopia
A sole effort by Fauziah Najjemba in the 75th minute proved enough as Uganda Crested Cranes squeezed past Ethiopia to book a semifinal spot in the CECAFA women Cup.
An average performance from both sides dominated the first half with hardly no side ready to open up offensively for fear of succumbing to counter attacks.
Uganda’s goalkeeper Ruth Arturo was rarely called into action, registering her second cleansheet in the tournament.
Talking after the game, the ambitious captain commented:
“Well its a nice feeling getting my second cleansheet in as many games because my target is to help Uganda win the tourney and take the best goalkeeper gong as last season,”
Ethiopian Coach Birhanu Gizaw refused to talk to the press in a move intended to show the discontent of game officiating.
Uganda will face Kenya in the last group game to see who qualifiers as group winners.
Crested Cranes head coach Faridah Bulega revealed how ready she is ahead of the upcoming challenge: “I know it’s going to be a battle of who tops the table against Kenya but we shall prepare with my technical team.”
Whoever, between Uganda and Kenya, fails to top the group will face the wrath of the high scoring and hosts Tanzania.
