UCU Canons beat Betway Power 65-58 in a game three pulsating affair of the NBL semi final played on Tuesday night at the Indoor Arena, Lugogo.

The Canons lead the beat of five series 2-1 and will reach the finals if they win game four which is scheduled on Thursday.

The other men’s semifinal between City Oilers and Warriors is tied one all with game three on Wednesday.

Canons, trailing 28-30 at halftime, won a strong third quarter 19-10 to take control and hold off further resistance from the five time champions.

Three UCU players – Peter Sifuma, David Deng and Jerry Kayanga, scored 12 points each while Fadhil Chuma added 10 points to the win.

The Canons rushed going forward and often lost the ball in transition despite a good display by promising young guard Fayed Baale.

Despite the win, UCU’s shooting blues continued as they struggled to make baskets outside the paint – Joas Maheta and Isaiah Mabeny were both 0-5 from beyong the arc as the team shot 3-of-19.

Power on the other hand, had Paul Odong score 17 points, Syrus Kiviiri and Soro Geoffrey add 13 and 12 points respectively.
