UPL: KCCA Put Kyetume To The Sword

KCCA FC beat Kyetume FC in a seven goal thrilling encounter at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo in a league game on Saturday.

Mike Mutyaba, Mustafa Kizza, Sam Ssenyonjo, Muzamir Mutyaba and Allan Okello were on target as KCCA won 5-2.

Steven Sande and Denis Lubowa’s goals proved consolation for the Mukono based team who end the regular season with in 12th place with 16 points.

KCCA remain fourth with 26 points but have closed the gap with Vipers to eight points with still three games in hand.

KCCA can end the first round on top if they win their remaining three games – Mbarara (A), SC Villa(H) and Proline (A)

Mike Mutyaba set the tone in the 22nd minute when he headed in from a Kizaa free kick.

The duo exchanged roles for the second when Mutyaba turned provider for Kizza to finish as the hosts doubled the advantage in the 28th minute.

Leading 2-0 at the break, KCCA saw their lead halved when Sande bundled home off a Vincent Kayizzi corner that was miss calculated by KCCA FC goalkeeper Charles Lukwago in the 48th minute.

A minute later, debutant Samuel Ssenyonjo scored the third for KCCA FC when he nodded in with kyetume goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa already beaten.

Muzamiru extended KCCA’s ruthlessness with the 4th in the 65th minute after tapping in from a Mutyaba shot that was flapped in the open space.

Lubowa made it 4-2, scoring the second for the visitors from a tight angle.

Okello scored the fifth from long range, his trademark curl, to seal a 5-2 haul.

Earlier, debutant Ssenyonjo had his header kept away by Mutakubwa off a Kizza freekick before Baker Buyala kept Philbert Obenchan’d header off the line as KCCA kept on the heat.

Erisa Ssekisambu had a powerful shot rattle the woodwork for the hosts.

Deo Iseja’s shot was blocked by Obenchan at the other end while Robert Ssentongo was denied by custodian Charles Lukwago. Buyala and Noel Nasasira came close but were off the target for the Slaughters who are currently under the tutelage of assistant coach David Mutono.
