Buganda Region Football Association has hinted on plans to start a regional beach soccer league.
The plans are in advanced developments and the much anticipated league is expected to kickoff next year in May.
The Chairman of Buganda Region Andrew Kaweesa confirmed the development in an Interview with The-SportsNation.
“We are seriously planing to introduce a Beach soccer league at regional level which we expect to start in May next year according to FUFA programs upon beach soccer,” Kaweesa disclosed.
If this comes to pass, it will be the first season to witness Beach soccer at the level despite the game having been in the country for over ten years.
Kaweesa also revealed that the project will start with capacity building before the league starts.
“Since we are introducing the project for the first time, we plan to organise Coaching and Management course in beach soccer and we expect them in January 2020.”
This, it’s expected, will be the first league which can produce teams to join the Uganda Beach Soccer League.
In the current procedure, teams are promoted to top flight through a tournament (promotional championship) and the best none league team at Samson Muwanguzi beach soccer tournament.
