Steven Mukwala is confident and raring to go ahead of the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge cup due December 7-19 in Kampala.

Maroons forward, on loan from Vipers, is the leading goalscorer with 10 goals and believes that he has done enough to earn his place in the CECAFA team.

Mukwala is among the 30 players summoned to prepare for CECAFA and trained with the team during the first session on Wednesday at Lugogo.

“I feel so good to be part of this team,” noted the in-form striker. “I have put up a good show in the league and am sure that I can replicate this performance on the National team.”

“This is not my first team to be in the National team set up because I have played in the U20 and U23 team as well.

“I will put up the best if given a chance, I will disapprove the doubters and I know that my recent form with Maroons has driven me up to here.”

The team of 30 is expected to be trimmed to about 23, awaiting official communication.

Mukwala will compete with other forwards like Fahad Bayo, Ben Ocen, Viane Ssekajugo, Allan Kayiwa, Joel Madondo and Edirisa Lubega for a place on the final team.
