KCCA FC coach Mike Hilary Mutebi admitted responsibility after he was left behind as the team travelled to Mbarara for a league game.
Mutebi took self blame, untypical of the gaffer whose big ego and pride have been his middle names.
“I arrived late in the morning and the team bus had already left,” Mutebi confessed on Thursday.
“I never fulfilled the obligations, and I am ready to serve any punishment given to me by the club but that will be internal.”
KCCA’s team bus, without Mutebi onboard, reportedly left Lugogo at 6:00AM on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s game at Kakyeka. When the bus reached Kyengera, efforts were made to call Mutebi who later declined the offer to chase the bus and opted to dishonour the trip.
Consequently, KCCA suffered a 2-1 loss to Mbarara City FC for the club to suffer their third loss of the season.
“I didn’t let down my team,” Mutebi added. “The coaches around me have the smartest Brains in Uganda football so my no show should not be an excuse.”
“Mbarara have been better against us in the previous games, however, the game on Tuesday had nothing to report about after the mediocrity of performances from both teams.”
The gaffer also apologised to journalists after he arrived about an hour late in a press conference.
KCCA occupy fourth on the log with 26 points and Mutebi believes that his side will bounce back when they face SC Villa in a mouthwatering clash on Friday at Lugogo.
