The grand finale of the Uganda National youth Chess Championship is set to take place December 2-3 at Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
The event, sponsored by Jesa, is a brain child of the Chess Parents and Guardians Association (CPGA).
The championship started in May has seen youths compete from various regions in different categories ie U18, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 with regional winners crowned.
The top three male and female players in each category from various regions will now meet for a final lap, tussling it for an overall prize at Kampala Sheraton.
“This is the first ever Junior Chess Championship in Uganda and it is geared towards identifying players that will participate at different levels,” said Sssubi Kiwanuka, chairperson CPGA.
Geoffrey Mulwana, Executive Director of Jesa, commented that this championship will go a long way in promoting chess and making it accessible to all Ugandan youths.
