City Oilers beat UCU Canons to level the best of seven finals series 1-1 in an intense game two played on Friday at Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
After losing game one 67-59, the six time defending champions needed nothing but a win to keep their hopes of a seventh straight championship alive.
In a game where lead exchanged hands on various occasions, big men Landry Ndikumana and James Okello lived as advertised as Oilers staged a strong second half.
Landry scored a game high 27 points from 9-18 shooting from the field in a game he played 37 minutes.
Okello scored 19 of his 23 points in the second half and added 11 rebounds in a commanding performance, shooting 10-of-16 from the field.
Jimmy Enabu came off the bench to contribute 10 points while Josh Johnson and Tony Drilleba added eight each as the shorthanded Oilers crawled to game two triumph at a packed arena.
The Canons who led 24-16 after the first quarter, fluffed their lead on the night they shot 38% from the field and made 16 turnovers.
Titus Lual had 15 points in the first half and never added to his tally in the second half, David Kongor Deng also contributed 15 while Isaiah Mabeny Ateer had 14 points in a losing effort. Jerry Kayanga (12) was 4 for 7 from beyond the arc.
