Proline Vs KCCA: Must Know Ahead Of Lugogo’s ‘Friendly’ Derby

Tuesday, December 3
*Proline FC Vs KCCA FC – 4:30PM

Proline FC will play host to KCCA FC at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo in the last league game of the first round.

The teams that share the ground, meet in a competitive fixture at Lugogo with much at stake;

KCCA, second on the log, will be seeking to close the gap atop while Proline who are rock bottom will be going out to improve their survival chances.

KCCA regard Proline as their feeder club of sorts. The two clubs share much in common beside hosting the games at Lugogo. They have been the country’s CAF competition representatives this season among others.

From time memorial, there is less or no rivalry at all between the two clubs given the gulf in quality in between. Like the current table suggests, KCCA has been competing for the title while Proline have been flirting with the relegation, swinging between Big League and top flight.

KCCA gaffer Mike Mutebi always come out of his office on many occasions to watch Proline train and he cannot feel offended to give advice accordingly. The players between the two clubs always mix at Lugogo with ease and these two sides constantly play each other in closed door trainings.

In the past years, KCCA and Proline have competed in the preseason tourney – Phillip Omondi Invitational cup.

On Tuesday, KCCA FC duo Gift Ali and Charles Lukwago will be facing their former employers Proline FC.

Proline trio Hassan Matovu, Ibrahim Wamanah and Bernard Muwanga will be ineligible to face their parent club.

KCCA will be without Jackson Nunda, Peter Magambo, Jurua Hassan, Sadam Juma, and Sadat Anaku who are still injured while it’s not known whether Julius Poloto will make the match-day squad for the first time.

“We want to end the first round on a high. The only way we can do that is picking maximum points against Proline FC. We face an enterprising side in Proline FC and we expect them to give us a run for their money,” said Mutebi.

“The win against SC Villa gave the team more confidence especially for the teenagers Kafumbe, Musa and Ssenyonjo. Playing a game that huge and delivering is a positive for me and them.

” I will keep handing the youngsters opportunity to play and showcase their ability. We are top of the scoring charts in the first round but i believe we can do better than that.”

After falling 2-1 to Mbarara, KCCA beat SC Villa 4-1 and will be expected to replicate that spectacular performance when they face a weaker side on paper.

Proline on the other hand, will be hoping to end the first round on a positive note. The club were deducted six points for their failure to honour a home game against SC Villa and have since forwarded the case to Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland where they have reportedly been told to pay 20,000 Swiss Francs for the case to be opened.
