UPL Awards: Mukwala, Mutebi Named November’s Best

Maroons’ striker Steven Desse Mukwala and KCCA’s gaffer Mike Mutebi have been named StarTimes Uganda Premier League best player and coach respectively for the month of November.

The duo takes home Sh1M each courtesy of Pilsner.

Mukwala beat KCCA FC duo Sam Ssenyonjo and Allan Okello to the gong.

“This is a big achievement for me,” stated the striker. “I thank my coach Douglas Bamweyana who has improved me a lot this season. He has instilled confidence in me and given me enough playing time and I credit him so much for this.”

Mukwala, current leading goalscorer with 10 goals, has scored seven in the month of November; he bagged two man of the match performances (Vs Police and Wakiso).

His seven goals came against Police F (2), Express, Busoga, Wakiso (2) and Proline FC.

Ssenyonjo and Okello scored three and four goals respectively for KCCA.

Mutebi edged Vipers’ Edward Golola. The latter won this accolade in October.

“Its for those lads I coach,” Mutebi dedicated the accolade. “They (players) have shown the right attitude, worked hard and they have done things perfectly. I commend them for adhering to what they are supposed to do. They have exemplified what they have to do in the last six or seven goals.”

Mutebi guided KCCA to seven victories out of nine games they played in the period. KCCA beat Villa, Tooro, Proline, Police, Express, Vipers and Kyetume FC.

KCCA drew URA and a lost against Mbarara City FC while Golola’s Vipers won four and lost to KCCA.
