All is set for this year’s FUFA Awards that take place tonight, December 14th 2019 at Speke Resort in Munyonyo.
The Male player of the year is the biggest and has been the centre of debate of the 14 categories of awards that will be issued out.
All the final three – Bright Anukani, Mustafa Kizza and Allan Okello – are Lugogo based players but stiff competition is expected between the two KCCA FC players.
Kizza is a left back but his ability going forward and creating scoring chances through his swinging crosses is the most outstanding weapon to his name.
Without doubt, Kizza has provided more assists (25) than any other Ugandan player in 2018-2019 and added enough scoring rate for a defender which seen him scoring 8 times and he has provided 8 assists, 3 goals.
Kizza technique in taking free kicks is another thing to be looked at. It puts him above his competitor Allan Okello in pecking order.
Speaking about Okello, he is referred by many as a second striker, the best in this position in the country.
Okello has been known for his goal scoring rate with high quality technique and that powerful left shot.
He has scored 6 goals in the league so far. He bagged four each in CECAFA Kagame cup and CAF Confederation.
He has totalled 27 goals to his name since the start of 2018-2019 season.
He has added another value to his name as he started to cover a lot of distance on the pitch and he became much important both on and off the ball.
The two will be escorted by another wonder kid in the name of Anukani who had a very stunning season as he contributed 14 goals to Proline FC’s return to StarTimes Uganda Premier League and played a big role to help Proline FC to win the Uganda Cup.
Anukani also has put a hand to national team as represented the Under 23 as of both Okello and Kizza.
