The 18th Edition of AUUS Games Underway

The 18th Edition of Association of Uganda University Sports games have kicked off on Monday at the University of Kisubi (UniK) where they have been hosted under theme “Celebrating Sports and Science Innovation”.

Over nineteen (19) Universities are taking part in several sporting disciplines which are to run for five days starting before ending on 20th Friday December 2019.

In her opening remarks, the president Association of Uganda University Sports, Madam Penina Kabange, thanked the organizers, Participating Institutions and all stake holder who have seen this years edition happening.

“I recognize the efforts made by the organizing committee and the hosts,who provided best infrastructures,adequate competition venues and good condition to enhance performance which will be a huge milestone to all participants which is going to be a motivation to a successful future”

On behalf of the host University, Professor John Ssebunya Vice Chancellor University of Kisubi, encouraged Universities to have meaningful budgets for sports and asked participants to keep discipline and tasked all officials to handle each and every game fairly.

“I welcome all universities here as i urge you to keep discipline,i wish each and everyone successful games and may the best team win and is task all referees and umpires to officiate each game fairly”

“I encourage all university when they are making their budget they should think more about sports because sports is a very important aspect in lives of student”

All Saints University Lango, Bishop Stuart University, Bugema, Gulu, Islamic University in Uganda, Kampala University, Kampala International University, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kumi University, Mountain of the Moon University, Ndejje, Nkumba, Uganda Christian University, Uganda Martyrs University, Victoria University and University of Kisubi are taking part.

The above universities are to compete in wide range of games and sports which include; Football, Netball, Basketball, Volley ball, Handball, Rugby, Wood ball, Tennis, Badminton, Darts, Chess, Pool, Karate,Scrabble, Swimming and Athletics where some of them like Athletic are to be played outside the premises of Kisubi.
