Boxing: 44-Year Old Storms Semifinals of Olympics Qualifiers

Badru Nyombi started to Boxing way back in 1998 as a light Middleweight Boxer but the 44 year has never got a chance to qualify for Olympics games.

During his 21 years-boxing career, Nyombi is most remembered for being light Middle national champion between 1999-2003 defeating Zebra Ssenyange on defferent occasions.

The most recent mark to remember on Nyombi, aka Master Lee, was in 2015 when he scooped a gold medal at Bingwa Wamabingwa in Tanzania but on Wednesday, the 44-year old proved that age.

He defeated Habib Mohammed who is likely to be in his early 20s with a performance which indicated that he may be good enough to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games.

He is set to return to the ring against a 19-year old Alex Bwambale who is based in Sweden.

Bwambale defeated Nsereko Jamali Adam to reach Semis.

In other heavy weight fights, Kyambade Emma beat Kakembo Aziz to set up a semifinal fight against Wejuli George who reached Semifinal on a Bye.

In Middle weight, All Africa Gold Medalist David Ssemuju Stopped Ilukor Ivan in the second round of the game to reach semis to join Okello Ronald who defeated Sseruwoza Khuzairu.

Job Brighton Lujja who beat Sserunkuma Ali and Nkubeza Yusuf who managed to eliminate Sematire Huruna, are also in the semis.

Earlier in the day, Bombers captain Shadir Musa defeated Muhammad Ali in Welter weight, Mugerwa Stanley beat Okai Martin as Nvule Umar eased past Lubowa Sharif. Mwesigwa Richard beat Ojok Alfred.

In Light Heavy, Ssemuju John defeated by Mulindwa Denish, Mukiibi Idris defeated Kimuli Ivan, Odokonyero Emma beat Mutebi Median and Male Joshua beat Rajab Adam.

Supper Heavy Geko Solomon beat Dungu Mande and Komakech Micheal beat Muhumuza Hudson by a walkover to set up fights with William Alinga and Lubwama Fred who got walkovers.
